[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, we must insist that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not on Talk:Kaaba. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ColdmachineTalk 13:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi Shoaib, thanks for the message on my talk page. I appreciate how you must feel; I do understand the position you bring to the discussion and the perspective you have on this issue. My message to you was in relation to this edit, where you accused other contributors supporting the inclusion of this image of being opposed to Islam. It might be considered a personal attack to level such an accusation, so I wanted to let you know that's how it might be interpreted by people. There are lots of sensitive issues topics which are certain to come up as people work on the encyclopedia - from religious issues to cultural and socio-economic issues - but I think that it's important that there's a balance between tolerance and adherence to Wikipedia policies such as the one on censorship and the content disclaimer. I don't contribute to articles on Islam, or actually religion in general, since it's not within my area of knowledge. I'd only really be making edits to correct typos and so on. I came to look at the talk page and the image issue after an ANI request though, which asked for community input. I think that in the context of this issue that the use of an image qualifies the article content, and adds to the body of knowledge which Wikipedia aims to provide. It would be the same on other sensitive issues too I don't doubt: I know that articles on taboo subjects such as pedophilia probably undergo the same level of controversy about what should and shouldn't be included. I personally find certain articles and images on Wikipedia offensive, graphic, or tasteless. But, I also accept that others may not and try to show my own tolerance accordingly. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:31, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
