Firstly, it's never acceptable to have the link in a reference tag be to another Wikipedia article or to a talk page. Secondly, any edit which you think you can justify by the need to prove a point is an edit you need to stop yourself and rethink, because Wikipedia isn't for settling scores or carrying out grudges. And finally, when a user who's never edited Wikipedia before suddenly shows up claiming far more knowledge of both the situation and Wikipedia policy than their lack of edit history would permit, any reasonable and responsible Wikipedia administrator immediately thinks sockpuppet.
