Your report to WP:UAA

[edit]

Hi, you filled a report about Utrecht-hooligan (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), could you drop by to tell us which vandals are using similar names? The name doesn't ring a bell :). Thanks! -- lucasbfr talk 12:38, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Bula Cometstyles

thanks for checking out the articles and also for the words of encouragement, hey thanks for the heads up on the edits and keep up the good work and kick butt with the vandals.

have a great day and Moce Toka Vinaka Maikeli MB 01:40, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only way to stop someone creating accounts is to block their IP, and that would be overkill for what looks like a simple error through inexperience (it does look like inexperience rather than malice). I've sent the user an explanation on talk, and I've sent the bureaucrats a message (see WP:BN) to try to get the mess sorted out (as the user in question has mistakenly ended up in control of a requested account). If the problem persists, some custom user-talk warnings or a page ban might be in order, but at present that would be overreacting (remember that the user in question has every right to help at WP:ACC as long as they don't mess up!). --ais523 12:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

What a user could do with the information is hopefully limited; I agree it looks slightly suspicious, but more suspicious things have looked innocent in the past. If the problem stops, great; if it continues, then further action can be taken. --ais523 13:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't normally have access to a computer with an IRC client that can get past the firewall (I don't have the privs on the computer to change the firewall settings). I don't use IRC in connection with Wikipedia, either, because it isn't allowed to be logged and there isn't any transparency. (When I do use IRC for unrelated reasons, I'm <ais523> on Freenode.) --ais523 14:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Gaiety Theatre, Dublin

[edit]

Hi. Two quick comments. Firstly, when moving an article (unless doing so because of a problem with naming style/convention/etc), it's good practice to discuss a move in advance (on the talkpage of the page to be moved). As the only "legitimate" notable theatre (still in existence) named "Gaiety Theatre", I thought the article was fine as it was. However, to avoid DAB problems maybe it's OK to move. Secondly, when completing a move, it's good practice to clean up any linking problems that arise as a result. Please let me know if you need assistance correcting all the links which misdirect as a result of this move. Guliolopez 23:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just dropping by to say "thank you" for supporting me in my recent my RfA. I passed the vote, and am now an admin. It will take me some getting used to with the new tools, but I thank you again for the trust. Have a good one, and, as always, happy editing! Jmlk17 04:55, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Cometstyles, thanks for your support in my recent RfA, it was, however, unsuccessful. I am not the type of editor to be disheartened by such a result, and have gained much experience. If you have anything to contribute by way of improvements or comments, please don’t hesitate to tell me.

I will run again. Until then, Cheers, Dfrg.msc 07:45, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SirFozzie RfA

[edit]

Hey, Cometstyles. Question for you: why do you think that SirFozzie's low mainspace edit count "could be a hindrance"? Do you actually think that his low count would be a hindrance to his making a good admin, or just to getting through the RfA? If it's the latter, I suspect you're right but I'd hope that doesn't in and of itself justify a weak. I'm not second-guessing your !vote, just curious as to your thought process. Name Change

[edit]

I appreciate what you said, but after thinking about it, i feel that if harrboyles is unhappy with the similarities of the two names, then he should change his. The similarities do not worry me in the slightest. Why should harryboyles have preference over me?--Boyleharry 10:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]

You placed an oppose !vote in the support section of my RfA which I believed to be sarcastic. Richardshusr has moved it to the oppose section and the tally has been updated accordingly. If this is not what you intended, please let us know. Thanks! Greeves (talk contribs) 02:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey cometstyles, I'm assuming your "Oppose per Riana and Jimbo Wales" on this RfA was supposed to be a support vote, because someone just moved it to the oppose section and I moved it back. You might want to offer some clarification on this, just thought I'd let you know. Have a nice day, - Zeibura (Talk) 02:47, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am considering running for a RFA in the near future, and since you are a regular RFA contributor i'd like to get your opinion. I made myself a nom at User:TheFearow/nom if you want to look. I don't want to place a RFA and get immediately shot down by people with editcountitis, so could you tell me whether you think I would pass? Thanks (and sorry for bothering you)! Thank you very much for supporting my RfA, which closed successfully yesterday... W00t! I hope to be a great admin (and editor) and I'm sure you can tell that my use of a large, boldfaced, capital "T" and a big checkmark image in this generic "thank you" template that I swiped from some other user's Talk Page that I totally mean business! If you need anything in the future or if you see that I've done something incorrectly, please come to my Talk Page and let me know. So now I've got a bunch of reading to do.... see you around! - eo 13:30, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. I'm the nom for the Greeves RfA page, and I was wondering if you could change your vote. I know you put you joke "Oppose" in the support section, but a whole bunch of people are confused by it, so could change it? Thanks for the humour, GrooveDog 13:21, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names/Jesusinmysock, by GDonato (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names/Jesusinmysock fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:
incorrect listing method

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names/Jesusinmysock, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. Hi Cometstyles, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. I will be happy to help as an admin wherever and whenever I can --VS talk 22:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
