Failed archive on ClueBot III

For some reason this section was skipped by ClueBot III upon archiving a talk page. Is there a way to force-include it into the archive batch ClueBot made? Tule-hog (talk) 22:25, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

I had the same problem on my user talk page. Asked about it here a short while ago, but got so response. So I installed User:Elli/OneClickArchiver to archive these sections manually. Not the most satisfying solution, but it works. Still I too would like to know why ClueBot fails to get the clue sometimes. Gawaon (talk) 05:43, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

Controversial and non-neutral term

How does "numberstart" work?

On Help talk:Citation Style 1, |numberstart= is set to "69" but the bot correctly archives to the final archive page "95". How does the bot use the parameter and how does it know to archive to the correct page? Rjjⁱⁱⁱ (talk) 14:11, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

Since |maxarchsize=200000, it starts at 69, and then sees that that one is full, then checks 70, sees that that one is also full, and so on up to 95. |numberstart= is just where the bot starts in case of existing archives from older bots, or changes in the config (like if someone were want to go from |maxarchsize=200000 to |maxarchsize=300000 and leave older archives alone). — Naomi Amethyst 15:48, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

Why does User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis advise using, say, |archivenow=<nowiki>{{tlu|User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}}</nowiki> instead of |archivenow={{tlu|User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}}? Ss0jse (talk) 23:22, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Archiving to the wrong archive number?

Hi! I just switched over to Cluebot III for archiving my talk page, but it has been archiving to User talk:Goodnightmush/Archive 3 even though the latest archive page is User talk:Goodnightmush/Archive 7. I haven't been able to figure out what configuration mistake I've made. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks very much! Goodnightmush^Talk 12:59, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Goodnightmush, the numberstart parameter on your user talk page is set to 1, so ClueBot III starts with trying to archive to User talk:Goodnightmush/Archive 1. When it does so, it sees that it's already larger than the maximum size set by the maxarchsize parameter (75,000 bytes). It then moves on to User talk:Goodnightmush/Archive 2, sees that it's also too big, and then settles for User talk:Goodnightmush/Archive 3, because that's still within the maximum size.

To correct this, change the numberstart parameter to 7, which is your latest archive page. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 13:30, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
