Question

I set up archives on the page Template talk:2009 swine flu outbreak table as follows: {{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis |archiveprefix=Template talk:2009 swine flu outbreak table/Archive |format= %%i |age=48 |index=no |maxarchsize=200000 }} This works fine. However, I copied to the text to a sub page of that page, Template_talk:2009_swine_flu_outbreak_table/Region_specific_discussions, with the idea of putting all the archived discussion into the same archive. The archiving doesn't seem to be actually happening on that page. I am guessing it is because the pointed to archive is not technically a sub directory of the current page. Is that correct and if so is there a way to make all the old discussion go into one archive?

Thanks for you time --ThaddeusB (talk) 19:20, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: Christopher Hitchens

Your bot's reversion of my edits to Christopher Hitchens is wrong. I removed content stolen from: [1], I explained that in the edit summary, and your bot warned me about vandalism. I'd appreciate an acknowledgment of its error on my talkpage (for the record). 96.241.20.150 (talk) 03:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Unintentional censorship by ClueBot

Cluebot recently auto-reverted what it took to be vandalism at John McClane. I assume that the reverted edit was innocent. It changed the quote for which that movie character is famous from a censored version to the actual quote. The actual quote, even containing profanity, would seem to be within the guidelines at WP:CENSORED, specifically "In particular, when a cited quotation contains words that may be offensive, it should not be censored." Since the quotation in question is rather famous for that character, I think the edit was the correct one. ClueBot, however mistook that well-intentioned edit for vandalism and reverted it to a censored version of the quote. My concern is that if I simply change the article back to the full quote, as the warned IP contributor did, then ClueBot will simply revert it again, ad infinitum. How can we correct the quotation so that ClueBot doesn't assume vandalism because of the profanity in the quote itself? Thanks. Age Happens (talk) 08:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

ClueBot won't revert to itself, so it shouldn't be a problem. Someguy1221 (talk) 08:13, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! That answers my question perfectly. Age Happens (talk) 10:23, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

ClueBot

ClueBot needs to get a life and another hobby. He should stop spying on all of us. What does anyone think about when someone spies on you?

Mistakenly erased a stub-tag

Sorry, as I've written above, I just wanted to remove the stub- status of my article about my home village "Kundl", but I mistakenly erased the stub- tag of "villages in Tyrol" itself and so I got a warning from ClueBolt. It's my first time editing, so sorry for my mistake. But is there anyhow I could remove the stub- status of my article or do just administrators have the right to do that? (I couldn't find sth. on the help pages) Can I erase your warning? Sabs14 (talk) 22:31, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

All you have to do to remove the stub tag is to remove the stub template from the page. For Kundl, it was {{Tyrol-geo-stub}}, which I have now removed. Anyone can remove it, presuming the article is no longer a stub, and you were correct that this article is not any longer. But anyone can remove it, you don't have to be an admin. You can also remove the warning from your talk page if you want. Someguy1221 (talk) 23:24, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Change on page SMS

The change that I did on page SMS was only because I think it makes more sense that this page has the various meanings of this acronym, because SMS does not mean only short message service. 85.240.3.249 (talk) 02:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Please see Help:Moving a page. Copy-pasting an article to what you believe is the proper location removes the page history, the record of edits and editors of the page. You can request a move by suggesting it on the talk page of the article or at Wikipedia:Requested moves. This message is both here and at your talk page, in case your IP is too dynamic to receive the message. Someguy1221 (talk) 02:22, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Would it work at Simple Wikipedia?

I was wondering - would it be possible for ClueBot to run anti-vandalism over at the Simple English Wikipedia? (Not asking it to start, simply wondering if it could run there.) --Philosopher Let us reason together. 22:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

To be fair...

ClueBot's user page, if it is to include a section for Praise, ought also to include a section for Criticism. To be fair. 'Penis' and 'masturbate' are not always inappropriate words for articles, ClueBot. -70.251.129.225 (talk) 00:41, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Recent developments

On 13 January, Air France agreed to enter into recently privatised Alitalia's capital share with a 25% stake. This capital investment is coupled with a co-operation agreement on an industrial basis. It is expected that Air France's participation will increase in the years and that may likely lead to a merger with Alitalia, although nothing has been agreed so far on this.

Why I added "Controversies and accusation of racism" about Air France

Please allow me to post this. I was the passenger and I have had a first hand experience with Air France staff's ill-treatment. Should you require proof, here it is.

Dates, archiving

What do most bots use to track latest changes to sections? I assume that they don't diff the history, but rather pattern match on the timestamps. Is this correct? M 21:09, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, ClueBot III just reads the page, sees it's config template, and extracts how long a thread has to be idle for archival. Once it knows this number, it opens the last revision before that time. Then it diffs the two, and finds sections that are equal. Those are the sections it archives. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 16:38, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

ClueBot currently looks for the "Rollback successful" message from it's rollback. I would think that that would be definitive enough. I guess it is not ... -- Cobi(t|c|b) 16:54, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Diff and page history. Q T C 17:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
The problem lies with the MediaWiki software, not ClueBot. It seems if X reverts a page and Y tries to revert the same page a moment later, Y may receive the "rollback successful" message even though X beat Y to the revert. --Ixfd64 (talk) 22:42, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Would it work at Simple Wikipedia? (restoring unanswered, archived discussion)

I was wondering - would it be possible for ClueBot to run anti-vandalism over at the Simple English Wikipedia? (Not asking it to start, simply wondering if it could run there.) --Philosopher Let us reason together. 17:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC-5)

Yes, it could run over on simple. Though, does simple get enough vandalism to warrent the effort of setting it up and maintaining it? Also, some of the heuristics would need tweaking to fit with the common vandalism profile of simple. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 09:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the answer. Since I asked the question, an anti-vandal bot has been set up on simple, so setting this up for simple won't be necessary - at least at the moment. I was mainly curious in case it eventually does get to be a big enough problem to warrant setting up/maintaining it. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 14:39, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

False Positive reporting works again

False Positive reporting works again, yes I finally got around to fixing it. Mainly because the admin of the server it is on finally got around to making the change to the database I requested.  :) -- Cobi(t|c|b) 16:39, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

The link to your talk page displayed when it thinks the report is a false negative is failing (in Chrome at least). Mark Hurd (talk) 04:06, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Revert id 692929

Not a false positive (according to your form): This reverted all the previous edits by User:Ranger625 even though only the last was vandalism! I know it is unusual for a logged-in user to make two good edits before vandalising, but if ClueBot's revert would be caught as vandalism by ClueBot it should probably not make the revert. Of course it may not have seen "'F***erRidge'" as vandalism. Mark Hurd (talk) 04:15, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Rehoboth Carpenter family

Regarding Rehoboth Carpenter family - We have surveyed, we have compromised, we have repeatedly asked to user Iwanafish to communicate. He refuses with his snide comments and reversions to non-wiki versions. We have warned him "offically" a lot more than 3 times. Repeatedly, we have asked for mediation, we have asked for help and I do not know who else to ask. Can you pass this up the chain of editors?

User Iwanafish continues to disrupt and vandalize this page and it has spread his behavior to other pages. John Carpenter (bishop) John Carpenter, town clerk of London What else can we do but shut down the articles involved and provide warnings that when they are restored by user Iwanafish that they are garbage? Has wikipedia lost the ability to police itself? I am beginning to think this is a hopeless cause where such bullies can inflict such damage to wikipedia. What else can be done? John R. Redoing vandalism

Someone replaces an article with something completely different, someone undoes it, and the latter is assumed to be vandalism? - Josh (talk | contribs) 22:36, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

According to my user page, Cluebot seems to think that I vandalized a page called "Orange Crush" which I did not. This is a mistake on someone's part, but I am not involved. Your 'reporting false positives' page is a sham. Submissions are not really reported, they are responded with a snappy comeback. I find this despicable - If I go through the hoops to protest an injustice, you then insult me by ignoring my protest. Repair my good name, and remove this "warning #1" I see next to my IP address, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.254.68.185 (talk) 20:48, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Mike Whitmarsh

I was trying to create a redirect to Michael Whitmarsh. That way if a user searches using his full name, they will be sent to the Mike Whitmarsh article instead of to the special page. It seems I did it incorrectly and my changes were reverted. I would appreciate some help in correcting this matter. Thank you. 96.232.127.22 (talk) 20:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)kc12286

If you're going to run an automated tool, please make sure it works properly instead of incorrectly tagging edits like this one as "redirecting article to non-existant [sic] page".

Please also fix the link " http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/~carter11/cluebot.php " that is given to the user after forcing them to type in numbers to deal with the "reporting" mechanism.

I'm sure you're aware that owners of automated bot accounts have a responsibility to verify that they work correctly. Yours clearly doesn't. 82.41.119.223 (talk) 11:46, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Please be advised the per WP:PROD, articles that have previously been proposed for deletion using the prod process are not candidates for prod. Accordingly, I have removed the prod tag from Aleatoric Music Therapy, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the prod template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Falsely Accused

Since I am not allowed to report a warning in error to anyone & since there is no link to Cluebot's page that allows me to do this, I shall post it here:

I have no idea what happened, but I have never made nor wish to make any entry to Aston Villa football club's page. I'm an esteemed motor racing researcher & only do edits on racing drivers on this site. So I do not know what this is all about & am quite unhappy about being warned over something I have never done. Having now seen the change I am alleged to have done, I find this laughable accusation, especially as I support Reading FC.

I hope to have this warning removed forthwith but I doubt this somehow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.181.105 (talk) 21:08, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Bad list suggestion

Consider adding the term 'uncyclopedia' to your list of bad words to detect. See Special:AbuseFilter/103 which shows that of the 95 of the edits which contained the term, all of them were vandalism.--Otterathome (talk) 06:33, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
