Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Veggie Tales DVD Ha's.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Veggietales dvd ha's.jpg. The copy called Image:Veggietales dvd ha's.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. AfD nomination of Gorilla Pictures

[edit]

I have nominated Gorilla Pictures, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gorilla Pictures. Hi, you can't just take images from the net and stick a GFDL license on them. If they are copyrighted which most modern ones are you'll need to add an appropriate WP:fair use template from this page and explain why you think it is fair use on the image page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sterling Holloway reading Peter and the Wolf.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sterling Holloway reading Peter and the Wolf.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:04, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you have been tagging screenshots and other similar images as GFDL and CC licensed. Please note that these images cannot be released under a free license as they are produced from copyrighted works. You've been told this already. For certain (but not many) cases, one can make a rationale for non-free use: this may occasionally be applicable during commentary on copyrighted works. Usually, however, a free image (or none) is the only appropriate solution. Please ask if you have any questions.Kelvinc (talk) 11:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Block

[edit]

You've been blocked for repeatedly uploading copyrighted images and failing to tag them correctly.-Wafulz (talk)`

Please note that the screenshot is a derivative work and thus the original copyright on the film still applies to it. The image may satisfy Wikipedia policy on non-free content, but it definitely should not be tagged as self-released GFDL. Please note that your mistagging of such images was what led to your previous block. Kelvinc (talk) 10:13, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Curly's Cameo Hold That Lion.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Curly's Cameo Hold That Lion.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

PS: Did you get this from a screenshot of the film or did you have an old photo from the set? It is not clear what you mean by "self-made", and in any case a screenshot is not considered "self-made" for copyright purposes on Wikipedia. Kelvinc (talk) 07:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Cluedo first edition.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

 1. the creator of the original work
 2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rlandmann (talk) 19:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
 • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Image:Babs and buster bunny kiss.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Powers T 20:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (films), is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Possibly unfree File:Original mr. toad ride.jpg

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Original mr. toad ride.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on File:Original mr. toad ride.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for repeatedly uploading images that are copyright violations. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest this block by adding the text unblock below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

I'm sooo sorry I promise I will not upload any more pictures, it has gotten me into nothing but trouble, please unblock me, or sadly I'm going to have to delete my account, because this is useless.

Decline reason:

Nearly every image you uploaded since your return has been deleted for copyright reasons. Given your disregard for copyright, in my view you pose too great a risk to be allowed to edit. Blueboy96 20:09, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

An image uploading ban probably would help resolve the situation, but I'm not fully convinced you understand why the images you're uploading are problematic. Have you read WP:COPY and WP:NFCC?
Also as a side note, accounts cannot be deleted. Hersfold (t/a/c) 06:06, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I should add that I'm not asking the question above in the spirit of "You've been a bad boy, have you learned your lesson?" Copyright is a tricky issue that is relevant across the internet, and it's not restricted solely to images. While it doesn't seem to have been an issue with you so far, copyrighted text can also lead to problems. Even if you are unblocked on the terms of an upload ban, it's important that you understand the reasoning behind your block. Hersfold (t/a/c) 06:22, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:American Madness Screenshot.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:American Madness Screenshot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 12:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
