Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BBC Logo 1997-Present.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BBC Logo 1997-Present.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:51, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Comhem logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Comhem logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:17, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AxG,

I am confused by your last edit on the Tomson disambiguation page. I had placed the birth and death years after the entries as outlined on MOS:DAB. It states:

For people, include their birth and death years (when known), and only enough descriptive information that the reader can distinguish between different people with the same name.

This means that the birth and death years are always included (if known), while only the rest of the descriptive information is limited. There is no exception stated; as the guidelines currently stand, the birth and death years should be included for all 'people entries', whether they are distinguishable by surname or given name or not. This is a uniform standard for all disambiguation pages. Please let me know if you disagree.

You just reverted a change by User:Willde1 with edit summery Learn to spell. Please assume good faith and don't bite the new comers. The change was factually correct but there happened to be some spelling mistakes. I think that correcting the spelling might have been a better idea. I would not normally say this, but this user happened to be very close to leaving wikipedia after a message I left to him with regards to some of his edits. I understand you have the interests of wikipedia at heart. Tiddly-Tom 23:09, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Could you explain why you reverted my recent edit to United Kingdom? Was it because I accidentally added a T to the anthem, or because I removed Titanic from the list of British films? AecisBrievenbus 12:38, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it's very easy: I had used ctrl-f to find Titanic, but I was probably a bit impatient. So I added the T to the anthem, and entered itanic in the search box :) AecisBrievenbus 12:44, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:UK_Animated_flag.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:UK_Animated_flag.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:25, 27 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:25, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that you have requested admin coaching in the above list, and I'm dropping you a note to offer any assistance you might need. AfD nomination of Cincoshop

[edit]

An editor has nominated Cincoshop, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cincoshop and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:14, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:BBC Three logo.svg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:04, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:RTÉ One logo 2006 (A).PNG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RTÉ One logo 2006 (A).PNG.

Thank you. Admin coaching request

[edit]

You have previously expressed an interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. We're currently engaged in a program reset to help things move more smoothly in the future. If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at Wikipedia:Admin_coaching/Requests_for_Coaching#Checklist_before_requesting_coaching; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. We should get back to you within a day or so, once a coaching relationship has been identified. Thank you. MBisanz talk 06:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching match

[edit]

Hello, I am pleased to announce that you have been paired with User:Alison as an admin coachee. You now have two important tasks to complete:

1. Introduce yourself to Alison and explain to them why you want to be an admin.
2. Once they have confirmed the relationship to you, edit Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching to move your name to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status to record the match.

Given the limited coaching resources of the Admin Coaching project, if you plan to take a Wikibreak of more than 30 days, please notify your coach or myself so that we will know not to tag you as retired and give your spot to another user. Remember that adminship is not a big deal and that it may take multiple RfAs before one becomes a sysop, even for a highly qualified, coached, editor. Also, remember that while admin coaching will help you prepare for the mop, there is no guarantee that completing this program will ensure passage of an RfA.

Congratulations again, and happy editing. MBisanz talk 20:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Template:ORF (broadcaster)

[edit]

Template:ORF (broadcaster), a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Template:ORF (broadcaster) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Template:ORF (broadcaster) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Admin Coaching

[edit]

Just checking in, I had suggested you work with Alison as a coachee and I've checked your record and you seem very close to being ready. I know you haven't contacted her yet, but I wanted to suggest that you remove the code on your userpage that prevents a person from clicking the tab on top to your talk page. I know there is the lower link, but right now there is much tension over admins making themselves inaccessible and I could forsee it being a major problem at an RfA. Just an FYI. MBisanz talk 07:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for unexplained undo?

[edit]

What's the reasoning for the unexplained undo of my edit to the 2012 London Olympics article? I'm not disputing that there might be a legitimate one, I'm just wondering what it is. AldaronT/C 22:11, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The logo and link, seem to have no connection to the 2012 Olympics and the designing of the actual logo, so the images could be fake. --AxG @ talk 22:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see: I wasn't clear. Not "alternate" in the sense of considered by the committee, but in the sense that they are among the many proposed by others after the official design was selected. Most of those have questionable rights status, or are unavailable in any decent illustrative resolution, but this one is available for use here as an example. I'll restore and clarify unless there are other objections. AldaronT/C 22:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Christa Williams

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Christa Williams, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Christa Williams seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Christa Williams, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Help

[edit]

{{Help}} I have been working on Template:Inesc, trying to add something like a year (e.g. "Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest" with a year could be "Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007").

It currently is:

{{Inesc|Austria}} >  Austria

but it should also be able to do (with an example of the format):

{{inesc|Austria|y=2007}} > Austria Austria.
Hi! I'm not good at explaining parser function syntax, but you can see what I did here - http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Template%3AInesc&diff=cur&oldid=prev . I hope this helps, Stwalkerstertalk ] 21:53, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at your contributions and I believe that when you have reverted edits, you have done so appropriately. So, I have added rollback rights to your account. Please note that rollback should be used only for blatant vandalism and does not leave a useful edit summary. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TheBishopsgateTower pic7.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rai-me 01:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Peak FM logo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Peak FM logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eurovision Song Contest 2008

[edit]

I have not vandalized the article Eurovision Song Contest 2008. The 'vandalism' in question is your POV and my addition to the article is not valid evidence of vandalism and such threats on Wikipedia are not condoned. Unless you can find a suitable reason why my additions should not remain in place, please refrain from such threatening behaviour. The fact that the EBU article lists its member broadcasters is immaterial. The broadcasters I have added are the ones responsible for the entry of each country. Technically, the Eurovision Song Contest is a contest between broadcasters rather than the countries themselves. Additionally, you will note that the broadcaster list on the EBU article is more exhaustive, listing all members rather than those that are present at Eurovision. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Channel 4HD logo.png.

STBotI (talk) 00:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Kwiksave logo 2007.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kwiksave logo 2007.gif.

Thank you. Alx 91 (talk) 02:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MOTD logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MOTD logo.png.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:20, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replacements

[edit]

Hello. There is a major problem with some of the replacements you made via AWB, such as this. ITV Yorkshire did not exist at this point so it is inaccurate to use it here. I've corrected some of those I could find. Similarly, although the BBC brands channels by words (One, Two...), it has previously used numbers, so we mustn't rewrite history to confirm with current branding. Unspecified source for Image:Red_Eagle.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Red_Eagle.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 01:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:A.neox.png}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:A.neox.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Thanks for uploading Image:ARD Karte mit Logos.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.

A while back I was looking for a new userpage, and came upon yours, which I copied across, and then was going to ask permission before keeping (with hindsight, that's a little backwards). I was going to credit, but forgot the username of the user I had taken the design from. Now, as you may have guessed, I have remembered and feel the need to ask for your permission to use it. It would save me a lot of time to not have to do another and edit it, I do hope you understand, so if you would like something in return then I am most willing, just tell me what it is. Any articles you need help with, you got it. Then again, if you want me to not use it, that is also fine. Have a nice day! :) asenine t/c\r (fc: f2abr04) 16:31, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is logo is much better than the .svg file because it is a larger file. Agreeably, an .svg file is better than a .png file, but if you have had a problem, then convert the PNG image to an SVG. This would mean that the logo is much larger, so you can see it properly!
