If you type "halakha" into Google, the Wikipedia article description has a racist comment that is not even present in the article. I can't figure out how to remove it.
- Not much I can think of either. Google's displaying a version from this morning (my time) which was reverted by a bot within a minute. It'll clear fairly soon as they update. At least it's not visible when anyone gets to the actual article. Peridon (talk) 21:06, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'll leave the helpme up - someone might know more in that line. Peridon (talk) 21:07, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- Peridon is right, that vandalism was very promptly removed, but unfortunately Google picked it up. It will drop off within a few days anyway, but there is a way to request Google to remove it, and I have done that - see here. I don't know how quickly Google process these requests. - Thanks for that. I've made a note... Peridon (talk) 21:54, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- It didn't work - my request was denied. If I understand this correctly, they are saying that as the offensive term has been removed from the page, a search for that term will not return it. That doesn't solve this problem - looks as though we just have to wait. JohnCD (talk) 11:29, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- The Google update must have come right in between the two edits - talk about split second timing... I think the Google reply might be automatic - triggered by certain words in JohnCD's request. It will drop out in a couple of days or so. I get annoyed sometimes when the crawler gets there before I go back to something interesting I saw and it's gone. Peridon (talk) 12:21, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
