Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

You were warned many times on your talk page about your apparent commercial editing. You finally received a notice asking you to state any COI, and you deleted it and kept on editing on the promotional subjects.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Confirming that I have no financial stake in any of the topics I write about. I am just a nerd who writes about things I know about: Cars, Crypto, Music, Insects, random geographies. David: this was an extremely hasty decision and you did not give me any chance to address you. You left a message on my talk page yesterday, then blocked me today. Why was I given basically 24 hours here?
I deleted your message on my talk page because it wasn't true: nobody is paying me to write about beer or any of these random topics. I would request a quick review and unblock here.
Addressing your 3 bullets:
  1. I am very well aware of the terms of use and will continue to follow to best of my ability
  2. I am not being compensated for any edits - as a hobby i try to find people, places, and things that have not been written about and I create articles.
  3. I intend to continue doing so, and I will strive for objectivity and quality edits

David: I had actually planned to come to your talk page to clear up the confusion with you directly- but I was banned before even able. The problem with accusations of COI is that they can be leveraged just by people "feeling" like it's COI. An article "feeling" like COI can literally come down to the connotation of a word used, or any myriad of subjective factors that weigh into the emotions one feels when reading an article.
You called COI on "Youssof Altoukhi" a living biography for a teenage entrepreneur (who I still believe is notable) ... and then you went to my completely unrelated article about "Premium Beer" and left a talk comment that said this is part of a string of paid promotion. haha Who would be paying me to write about a teen entrepreneur then about premium beer?
If I need to work on my neutral tone in writing, noted - will completely take that into account, but the COI/paid editing thing is just false. I just wrote an article that you didn't see as notable, you left a note on my talk page that I deleted intending to leave a message on your talk page to clear up, and then I was banned before I could clear things up with you.
The above should make it all clear, and this will not be a problem in the future Andrewkazimi (talk) 18:37, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi? Can someone please address this? I was banned without any discussion, I've confirmed I'm not accepting any cash or foul play, and now nobody is responding? Could someone please address this? Thank you so much! Andrewkazimi (talk) 02:32, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@David Gerard would be good to hear from you Andrewkazimi (talk) 02:33, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
