What do you need help with? --Smokizzy (talk) 22:32, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I need to know how I can link the article I have created on Ari to his name on the squad list of the football team, AZ.
A little more detail, please? --Smokizzy (talk) 22:41, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On the English article for the football team AZ (please do not edit to AZ Alkmaar as this is factually incorrect), there is a squad list of the players and one of them is the new signing Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira. This name was in red so today I created an article: Ariclenes da silva ferreira. Now the name in the original squad list has been changed so the s and f are capitalised (as they should be) and it will not link to my article and I do not know how I can fix this. I am new to Wiki, so I would appreciate any help, thanks.
I looked through your contributions and found Ariclenes da silva ferreira, the page you created. It didn't link correctly to his name because you didn't spell his name correctly. I've moved it to Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira, his correct name, and now the AZ (football club) article links to the article. I'll leave you a welcome message below with helpful links on creating new pages. Welcome to Wikipedia! - KrakatoaKatie 22:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, whoever put it there had done that spelling mistake and I did not know how to rectify it, so I went ahead with the article. Many thanks for your help.

Re: AZ Alkmaar Current Squad

[edit]

Hi - nice to see you again.

The box at the bottom of the player's page is a template, in this case Template: AZ squad. Templates make the Wikiworld go around; like articles, they can be edited by anyone who understands template syntax, unless they're protected. This particular template is not protected, so anyone can edit it – but that doesn't mean everyone should edit it.

Although I'm an admin and I understand templates, I'm uncomfortable changing a template on a project or subject with which I'm unaffiliated or unfamiliar. I live here, and I don't know much about European football clubs. I suggest you contact one of the editors of the template, which you can find by going to Template:AZ squad and clicking on the 'history' tab, to voice your thoughts. I've noticed that the category is named Category:AZ Alkmaar, so it looks like there are several changes to be made if your reasoning is correct (and I have no reason to believe you're not absolutely correct). The editors of the template are likely to be the ones interested in Dutch football. You could also check out WikiProject Football, which seems right up your alley.

Thanks again, and if I can help or answer questions just ask! - KrakatoaKatie 03:01, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you are changing the AZ Alkmaar link that had been used in many AZ related articles to simply AZ. I can understand this, although when you click on it, you won't be directed to the AZ article on Wikipedia. To do this you should use the AZ (football club) article. When you use [[AZ (football club)|AZ]] instead it will show up like you want to... AZ. Knurftendans 00:16, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
