Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa

[edit]

Back in April you made this edit: http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Magellan_expedition&type=revision&diff=1018864494&oldid=1018860845

which cites Kelsey's book and says that Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa was one of six men in the Magellan expedition who were buried at sea after they finished circling the globe. But Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa was not buried at sea during the Magellan expedition, and Kelsey's book doesn't say that he was. It specifically says there were only five men like that, on page 34. So what's the deal? Normally I wouldn't even ask, but it's such a strange mistake to make. - 2603:9000:E408:4800:3518:B9FA:3503:68DD (talk) 04:25, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, that sounds weired. I will look this up (and probably correct it) when I find the book again. It somehow wandered away from its usual place in my shelf... ASchudak (talk) 18:35, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Found it. The error is in the book. The list in the addendum refers Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa as the last entry under "buried at sea", then starts the next category with "survived and returned later". Obviously he went into the wrong category here. The text makes clear he survived and returned. I will change that on the webpage ASchudak (talk) 01:58, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I reformated the lists there so that all use the same form now, and put in their birthplace and tasks according to Kelsey. ASchudak (talk) 14:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
