The widespread use of HFCS in food products can negatively affect up to 30-40% of the general population, since this is roughly the portion of the population which has fructose malabsorption.[1] About half of people with fructose malabsorption suffer adverse effects such as gastrointestinal problems, chronic fatigue and depression.[2]
