He obtained his theatre and film training from various trainers notably Commedia dell'arte,Suzuki Method,Biomechanics and Acting for Films.
In 2002,after bagging 'Mr Confidence' and 'Mr Personality' titles at the Manhunt National Finals,he appeared in numerous tv commercials and guest stars in tv series.
In Malaysia,he has been involved with tv productions such as: 'Ghost Season 2','Sepuluh(The Cup)','Kopitiam' and 'PCK Sdn Bhd'.Over the years his career brought him across the continents to Singapore and China.
He has appeared in several feature films: 'Sell Out!','The Collector','Petaling Street Warriors' and 'Claypot Curry Killers'.
Over the years he has appeared in tv commercials for: Maggi,Caltex,McDonalds,KFC,Pizza Hut,Osim,Getha,Proton,Coca Cola,Bank of Singapore,Panadol Generations and in Prudential's national campaign.
Wai Hoong graduated from California Culinary Academy in 1999 and currently runs his own home-baking business specializing in flourless cakes.
In 2009 his commitment and discipline in spinning a indoor bicycle for 48hours cemented his name into Malaysia Book of Records. As a fitness enthusiasts,Wai Hoong is the head trainer for Jump Fx Malaysia and travels extensively to promote a healthy lifestyle for corporate companies and school children.
