See {{OntElec1Tots}} for explanations on messages created by this template and how it is invoked.

Usage

[edit]

Called by the {{OntElec1Tots}} template:

{{OntElec1 Comments
  | ActiveElectionMMMYYYY      = mmmyyyy
  | ActiveElectionDateYYYYMMDD = ########
  | TestForElectionMMMYYYY     = mmmyyyy
  | Contested?                 = Yes / No / 1 / 0
  | OtherComments              = AnyText
  }}

where (named parameters indicate):

    ActiveElectionMMMYYYY     the date of the latest/active Election (i.e. from September 2011 to October 2011, this was "Oct2011"; thus it might be referred to as the "October 2011 Ontario general election")
ActiveElectionDateYYYYMMDD the actual date of the election (in metric format yyyymmdd); for the Oct2011 election, this was October 6th, 2011 (or "20111006").
TestForElectionMMMYYYY parameter #4 from the {{OntElec1Tots}} template call.  This value is compared with ActiveElectionMMMYYYY to determine if this testing is being done for the current election.  If this value does not exactly match (case-insensitive) the value for ActiveElectionMMMYYYY, this template does nothing.
Contested? parameter #5 from the {{OntElec1Tots}} template call.  Indicates whether or not results for the specific riding are being contested.  (For example, in 2011, Ontario law provided for an automatic recount if there was less than a 25 vote difference between 1st & 2nd place; any riding where this occurred, or where the riding's results are otherwise contested, should have parameter #5 set in the wiki article's {{OntElec1Tots}} call; ideally the next parameter (OtherComments) should be set with text to explain why the results are being contested.
OtherComments parameter #6 from the {{OntElec1Tots}} template call.  Can insert (after automatic notices generated for Unofficial or Contested? results) any text message into the wiki article by specifying in the {{OntElec1Tots}} call; such as:
