1812 North Moore is a skyscraper in Rosslyn, Arlington County, Virginia, United States. The 35-story, 119-meter (390 ft) tower is the second tallest building in the Washington metropolitan area, second only to the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. and consists of 580,000 sq ft (54,000 m2) of commercial office space. 1812 North Moore received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council.
History
[edit]Planning (XX–2010)
[edit]Monday Properties president and chief executive, Anthony Westreich, decided to commence construction of 1812 North Moore despite the slow commercial real estate market in the Washington metropolitan area.[1]
1812 North Moore was designed to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council, the highest level of environmental sustainability bestowed by the organization.[1]
Construction (2010–2014)
[edit]Opening
[edit]Westreich had predicted that the Washington metropolitan region real estate market would improve during the building's three years of construction.[1] In 2010, prior to the construction of 1812 North Moore, the vacancy rate for the region of Northern Virginia within the Capital Beltway was 10 percent; and by 2013, the vacancy rate had risen to 17.5 percent.[1]
Building
[edit]1812 North Moore is the second tallest building in the Washington metropolitan area, second only to the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.[1] It is three times the height of most office buildings in Washington, due to the Height of Buildings Act of 1910 which restricts building heights to 130 feet (40 m).[1] The building consists of 580,000 sq ft (54,000 m2) of commercial office space.[1]
1812 North Moore provides panoramic views of Downtown Washington, D.C. and the National Mall.[1]
