Pyotr Mikhaylovich Ganyushin (1919 — 1943) is the lieutenant of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, the participant of the Great Patriotic War, the Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).
Biography
[edit]Pyotr Ganyushin was born in 1919 in the village of Gorki (nowadays — Sergiyevsky district of the Samara region) in working family. I have graduated from teacher training college. In 1942 Ganyushin has been called up on service for the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. He has finished an intensive course of the Penza artillery school. Since July, 1943 — on fronts of the Great Patriotic War, in a rank of the lieutenant he ordered a platoon of the 106th separate destructive and anti-tank division of the 23rd rifle division of the 47th army of the Voronezh front. He has caused a stir during the battle of Dnieper.
On October 2, 1943 during fights for the base on the west bank of Dnieper near the village of Studenets of Kanevsky district of the Cherkassk region of the Ukrainian SSR, reflecting the German counterattacks, Ganyushin's platoon has destroyed 2 enemy artillery pieces, a mortar and about a platoon of soldiers and opponent's officers. Having moved the tool on a spare firing position, Ganyushin during the next counterattack has caused to the opponent a big loss. He was killed in that battle. He is buried in the village of Bobritsa of the same area.
For "the courage and heroism shown in fight against the German aggressors" the lieutenant Pyotr Ganyushin posthumously has been awarded with the decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of December 24, 1943 a high rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union. Also has been awarded with the Order of Lenin.
