Nino Karamatić (born June 1975) is a prominent Croatian politician, lecturer, manager, and auditor. He attended elementary and grammar school in Zagreb. He enrolled in Faculty of Trasport and Traffic Sciences (FPZ) at the University of Zagreb and earned a Master's degree in Air Transport at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (FPZ).

Professional Career
[edit]At the beginning of his career, he worked in several private companies in various positions, mostly in the commercial and sales sectors. In 1999, he was employed at Zagreb Airport and in 2007 he moved to The Croatian Air Navigation Services (Croatia Control) as a quality manager, where he successfully implemented the ISO 9001 quality management system and the ISO 14001 environmental management system. He was among the key people for adapting the Republic of Croatia to the EU Single European Sky Regulations, which successfully concluded with certification. In 2012, he was appointed to the position of the director of the Croatian Air Navigation Services (Croatian Control). After leaving the position of the director, he led the strategic planning and development office for several years, and then the human resources sector. From 2019 to 2021, he held the position of Executive Director of Corporate Functions. In recent years, he has been working as an advisor to the director of the Croatian Air Navigation Services.
Social Career
[edit]Nino Karamatić is a lecturer at Faculty of Trasport and Traffic Sciences (FPZ)[1] at the University of Zagreb. Since 2013, he has been teaching the Risk Management coursein the Air Traffic Control Program. In February 2017, he was elected by the Council of the Technical Field of the University of Zagreb to the honorary teaching position of a lecturer for a period of five years. In November 2024, he was re-elected for a new five-year term. He is in a permanent lecturer position at the Croatian Training Center for Air Traffic Control, teaching Aviation Law course. He is very active in his profession and was a long-time Vice president of the Air Transport Association at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) and, by decisions of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, a member of several national committees in Croatia (Air Traffic Safety Management Committee[2], Civil Aviation Protection Committee[3], and Airspace Management Committee[4]).
He has been the Vice president of the Croatian Society of Quality Managers for many years. He also participates in economic topics as a member of the Economic Council of the Velika Gorica Polytechnic and the Economic Council of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb. His areas of interest include science and management, with a particular focus on transport and communications.
Political Engagement
[edit]He became politically active in 1996 by joining the the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Sesvete. In 2021, he joined the City Committee of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Zagreb and was elected Executive Secretary for Analytics and Communications. He is a member of the presidency of Zagreb's Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ[5]).
Media / Message to the Generals
[edit]Nino Karamatić is the well-known author of the welcome message read by an Air traffic controller[6] when the Government aircraft entered Croatian airspace with generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markač following their acquittal at the Hague Tribunal.
Private Life
[edit]Born on June 1, 1975, in Zagreb, he is married to Tanja Karamatić, a preschool education teacher, with whom he has five children. He is the founder of the company Angel Brewery[7], which produces artisanal "craft" beers. He withdrew from the brewing business and handed over the company to his co-founder.
