I am an old-time mainframe computer programmer and software developer, with programming experience dating back to the late 1960s (although I only started getting paid for it in 1972). At various times during this career I have programmed in Fortran, Assembler, APL, Cobol, PL/I, C, Perl, Rexx, and Java, to varying levels of expertise, though I always feel most at home in Assembler. I've also dabbled with the Web development languages of HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

I've worked almost exclusively on the IBM OS/360 platform and its follow-ons up to System z. I specialized in the CICS transaction subsystem.

After retirement I began programming on Windows and Linux as a hobby, and came to appreciate the simplicity and power of Python.
