Early life
[edit]Born in Jabal Saraj, Parwan, Afghanistan. Ghafouri started playing football as Center-backat the age of 7 for SUB Sønderborg. Later then at the age of 13 he was picked up by FC Sønderborg as a Midfielder. While playing football Ghafouri was involved in other sports as well such as handball, boxing and taekwondo. Moving to United States at the age of 14, Selaab decided to take football serious and played Winger with Bay Oaks that is located in Oakland, California before he was picked up by San Jose Earthquakes Academy in 2011 after having a great season with his high school football team, Alameda High School.
Club career
[edit]After graduating from Alameda High School in 2013, Selaab went on to play for a local adult club called San Ramon Azuri, just a season later Ghafouri was recruited by CCSF to pursue his studies and play football for their men's team. With almost a perfect season Ghafouri and his team were top 8 team in the Nation. A year later Selaab was signed by CD Aguiluchos USA where he played his first match against Sacramento Republic FC in the U.S. Open CupCite error: The <ref>

International career
[edit]Selaab was selected to represent Afghanistan at youth level competitions several times, but had to deny it due to personal issues. In November 2017, Ghafouri got his first call up to represent Afghanistan senior side in a friendly matchCite error: The <ref>
tag has too many names (see the help page). against Tajikistan at Central Republican Stadium which they lost 1-0 and Ghafouri didn't make his debut. He still yet has to make his debut for the national team.
