S.B.Siyambalapitiya (Professor)
[edit]Sarath Bandara Siyambalapitiya (31 March 1944 – 23 December 2017) was a Sri Lankan emeritus professor in Mathematics.
Early life and family
[edit]Saratha was born on 31 March 1944 in Hettimulla in Kegalle District in Sri Lanka. His father was a school principal and mother was a house wife. He was elder son of his family and he had only a younger brother. He was educated at Kegalu Central College in Sabaragamuwa Province and entered University of Ceylon, Sri Lanka in 1966 and graduated from Faculty of Science in 1970 specialising Mathematics. He was awarded a scholarship to study in Australia and received his Ph.D degree from the university of New Castle in 1983.
