The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health
[edit]The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health is a UK charity that works to improve the quality of life for people with mental health problems by influencing policy and practice in mental health and related services.
Its work focuses on criminal justice and employment, with supporting work on broader mental health and public policy.
History
[edit]The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health was set up in March 1985 Cite error: There are <ref>
tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, which funds its activities. The Gatsby Charitable Foundation is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts and was set up by Lord Sainsbury.
It was originally called the National Unit for Psychiatric Research, then became Research & Development for Psychiatry in May 1989, changing to its current title of the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health in February 1994.
