M1dy (styled as m1dy, real name Yosei Watanabe) is a Japanese speedcore musician.
History
[edit]m1dy originally started in 1998, as Awakening Machine (覚醒機). In 2000, their name was changed from "Awakening Machine" to "m1dy", "m1dy" being a reference of their former name, "Awakening Machine THE MIDI ANARCHIST".
In 2002, SPEEDCORE DANDY (also called Muji) was released on CD-R from SHARPNEL SOUNDS. The following year, in 2003, they re-released SPEEDCORE DANDY as SPEEDCORE DANDY XXX, with minor changes in the songs included. Unlike SPEEDCORE DANDY, SPEEDCORE DANDY XXX released as a pressed disc, later to be sold at major stores. Around this time, he was also active as a member of the doujin circle Nihon Kokumin.
In 2004, he established his own label "PORK'' and released Awakening Machine is Back!!!. In 2005, the e-mail magazine "SPAM" was published from February 8th to September 25th, 2005.
In 2005, JAPANESE MATHAFACKA was released on CD-R. A version with changed contents was later released as PERFECT MATHAFACKA.
They performed live at Anime Expo, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California from July 1st to July 4th, 2010.
On January 3, 2019, he collapsed at his home due to Stanford type A aortic dissection and was taken to the hospital where he underwent two surgeries.
