Dr Naj Soomro

Dr Naj Soomro is Sports Doctor and former Chief Medical Officer for Pakistan Cricket Board. He was a member of International Cricket Council’s Medical Advisory Committee from 2022-2024. He has covered 37 International Cricket matches including 3 ICC T20 World Cups.

He has worked at the Doctor for New Zealand Football, covering the women’s team at the U20 FIFA World Cup in Colombia. He has previously worked as the State Doctor for Victorian Football Team in AFL State Competition.

He currently works as the Lead Doctor for Port Melbourne Football Club; and shares his time working as a part-time GP and with the Australian Army Reserves, where he is a Captain (Specialist Service Officer).

Dr Soomro is a triple trained Medical Doctor, Injury Epidemiologist and Exercise Scientist, this gives him a unique lens on injury prevention, quantification and management of sports injuries. Along with his Medical Degree, he holds a Master in Public Health (Epidemiology) and PhD in Sport Medicine & Exercise Science from The University of Sydney and has worked with various National and International Sporting Associations including Cricket Australia, ICC, FIFA, NZ Football, Netball and IronMan Triathlon.
