Hello Wikipedia! My name is Neha and I am a freshman at Rice University and created a wikipedia page as a part of the Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities course. I am very interested in racial equity and women's rights. I am excited to learn from Wikipedia's wealth of knowledge and to contribute to it as well. I am particularly interested in growing my knowledge surrounding inequities on the global scale.

Two topics that I am considering creating a wikipedia page for are either discrimination in education in the United States or Mental Health for Asian Americans. Both devolve into issues regarding race and equity, I would say that there is even some overlap between the topics. I am passionate about educating people regarding discrimination in the education system in the United States because I feel that there is a lack of awareness of how things like teacher bias or de-facto segregation can affect the educational success of students from minority groups. I feel that my article could be a good addition to the knowledge accessible by the public. I am also interested in Mental Health in Asian American communities because this is a topic that tends to be heavily stigmatized. Many times young Asian Americans who find themselves in need of mental health support do not know where to turn. I feel that a wikipedia article could be a valuable source of knowledge for this community. These are some sources that I will utilize to create this article:
