From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm a historic transport enthusiast from the south of England. I'm keen to improve the many Wikipedia articles on historic transport in the UK, especially having seen that many of them have so few references (often to broken links or sources that don't meet Wikipedia guidelines) and inline citations. I'm trying to use my book collection, and online sources such as the Commercial Motor archive, to improve the referencing in particular, and in some cases add additional information. I'll willingly admit that I still have a lot to learn, and will make mistakes - please be gentle in correcting them!

Interwiki links and shortcuts

You can make links that lead to Wikipedia's sister projects, and a few other places, without the arrow that accompanies external links. Here's how:

Prefix Example Shortcut
[[wikibooks:]] wikibooks: [[b:]] b:
[[meta:]] meta: [[m:]] m:
[[mediawikiwiki:]] mediawikiwiki: [[mw:]] mw:
[[wikinews:]] wikinews: [[n:]] n:
[[wikiquote:]] wikiquote: [[q:]] q:
[[wikisource:]] wikisource: [[s:]] s:
[[wikipedia:]] [[wikipedia:]] [[w:]] w:
[[wiktionary:]] wiktionary: [[wikt:]] wikt:
[[commons:]] commons: [[c:]] c:
[[wikidata:]] wikidata: [[d:]] d:
[[wikispecies:]] wikispecies: [[species:]] species:
[[google:]] google: used for google queries
[[mediazilla:]] mediazilla: used with bug numbers
The long form doesn't work within the same project. The shortcut works everywhere.
