Moshe Freedman (born 24 April 1978) is a British Rabbi, scientist and lecturer. He is currently the Rabbi of the New West End Synagogue in Bayswater, London and has served as the part time Jewish chaplain to Canary Wharf since 2012. He is married and has six children and four step-children.

Rabbi Freedman began his rabbinic career at Northwood United Synagogue, serving the community between 2009 and 2015. He joined the New West End Synagogue in March 2015.

Early life

Moshe Freedman was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames in Greater London and attended Grand Avenue Primary School in Tolworth and the historic Tiffin School near Kingston's town centre. He was very active in the Jewish community, attending Kingston, Surbiton and District Synagogue and serving as a Chazan for Shabbat and festivals and teacher at the cheder (Sunday School). After completing A-Levels, Freedman studied Medical Electronics and Instrumentation at the University of Liverpool before taking up a Masters degree at the University of Surrey in Medical Physics. Freedman continued as a doctoral student at the University of Surrey focusing his research on signal processing and data analysis of impedance signals taken from the epigastric region to measure gastric emptying rates and contractility.

Following the completion of his PhD, Freedman travelled to Israel to study at the David Shapell College of Jewish Studies - Yeshivat Darché Noam. After five years, Freedman completed his semicha (rabbinic ordination) and joined the United Synagogue as the community rabbi of Northwood United Synagogue.
