[edit]A place for short, comments. Most stuff belongs on the talk page, but you can decide where to put it:
It was NOT vandalism. I am new to editing Wikipedia and due to that, when I changed certain words they ended up being links rather than text. Furthermore, the term "African American" is ignorant and a definite misnomer when applied to descendents of African slaves who arrived in the country a significant time BEFORE the Civil War which is an obvious reason why the argument that "African American" is parallel to "German American" since those who call themselves "German American" are almost always descendents of immigrants who came here a significant amount of time AFTER the Civil War. Furthermore, the label "African American" does not point to a specific country as "German American" does, but a large continent full of dozens of countries, many different peoples who speak many different languages, with loads of different skin colors, hair textures, facial features and cultural traits. "African American" applies to someone who has significant cultural ties to Africa. Usually someone with parents or grandparents from Africa refer to themselves this way, or specifically by their country of origin. However, since nationalities mix, it is often simpler to say "African American" rather than "Nigerian-Cameroonian-Ghanian-American". Black Americans, on the other hand, are Americans who are Black. If you aren't going to refer to White Americans as European-Americans consistently, then don't take the liberty of hyphenated the nationality of a group of people who have been in this country, built this country, and fought in wars for this country since the 16th century.
