I write and produce music under the name of LorD and Master and have had works released commercially, most successfully, remixes for US electroclash duo, Dangerous Muse and Killian Wells. I have released an album of my own work on digital download services and continue to remix other artists. Recently, I remixed Shakespears Sister, for example.
Though I've never had any real training in writing or producing, the organic learning approach seems to have done me well and since I've been playing keyboards since I was six and writing music since I was eight, I have a wealth of bad habits to draw from.
In terms of the music I like to listen to, I love the following acts:
I write a lot. Less than I used to, but nowadays, I am mostly found to be writing for an online gaming community that I set up, known as UFO Gamers. Based over at www.ufogamers.co.uk, this site and its team are a great chunk of my life, we all have a great chemistry writing together, we broadcast a weekly show where we talk for two hours about games news, do crazy things and give away prizes. Instilling the feel of tongue-in-cheek, satirical humour has been a great joy and I do sincerely hope it continues for many years.
Whenever we travel, I write about my experiences, thoughts and feelings while abroad and publish them to various sites, though I do plan to combine them into one large travelogue novel. Maybe...
In writing, I'm a big fan of pedantry and go by the style guide of The Times and other books such as Mind the Gaffe and the mighty Bill Bryson's Troublesome Words. In my old job working in railway safety, I was responsible for copyediting reports to the government about certain accidents. For this purpose I sported my infamous Red Pen of Death...
I love photography. Sometimes I kick myself for not bringing my digital SLR with me when I go out just because I see something that would make a great picture.
I used to be very point-and-click about taking photographs, but now I'm more aware of how images can be digitally manipulated and so I can plan around that and take shots that are more set-up and deliberate.
I'm in no way a professional photographer and my knowledge of the art extends no further than what I have discovered through experience and buying magazines on the subject, but I'm sure I'll get better as I go.
As for design, I'm so absorbed by the notion of design, how things are packaged and represented publically; I'm fascinated with typeface and layout, how images fit into design and in that capacity, I happily supply most of the LorD and Master design work myself, though I am limited by my abilities.
I've recently been getting into using Joomla!-based software to create interactive community sites. It's really good because it's so easy to build a marvellous site. I just wish our database was quicker!
