Welcome to my "Autobiography" here on Wikipedia! I created this page to try to clean up some junk on my main page and organize it a little bit better. This particular page shows what I do on wikipedia, and a bit about me (and not much else!). If you want to see more information about me, you may want to go to the page with all of my lovely userboxes!
A bit about me...
Well...I got a wikipedia account some time in the early fall of 2008. Don't call me new, because I have explored Wikipedia for a long time. I live in the Tri-County Area which I have lived in most of my life. I work with many articles regarding Portland, OR such as the Caruthers Bridge, Portland International Airport and other areas as well. My family and extended family own a house in the Valley of the Sun which is also a great place to be. I have tried to do stuff with articles down there regarding Wikiproject Airports but when I tried to get a nighttime image of Stellar Airpark, the runway lights were turned off (isn't that strange?) but I still managed to get a photograph of Terminal 3 from Terminal 4. If you haven't been to the Sky Harbor, it is a beautiful (and huge) airport.
For a family reunion in Branson, Missouri, I also had to fly thru many airports. From American Airlines, we got a flight from PDX to DFW. Again, a huge airport. I didn't get my account yet though, but I still went to Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. A big airport relative to it's location (and the Wal-Mart headquarters of the world! WOO HOO!!!) When I went to the Kirby Van Burch show, I got my account soon after to write a little stub about him and his show (which was truly amazing). I showed his significance, I put inline citations on the article... next thing I know, I have a new message. This isn't the welcome message, this is more of a BITE message, since I hadn't known 100% how to create things. Follow this link to see what this person "told" me. I kind of got rabies from that bite. Made me mad! I had a very difficult start on Wikipedia.
However, as my birthday present to myself, and as I planned, in early February 2009, I recreated the article. It was a single paragraph but that was all that was needed. Three citations; external link to the official page; wikified best to my ability. Now the article is expanding nicely and I don't think it can meet any WP:AFD or WP:CSD criterias. Ahhh....so happy. In the same week, I got two nice things; a "pixel cake" for my birthday, and my very first barnstar. I also got a compliment on my recreated talkback template:
Hi there, K50 Dude! How are you? K50 Dude has something that he wants to tell ya, so stop by his talk page to see a new message he has for you.
You can remove this notice at any time by taking down the {{User:K50 Dude/talkback}} template from your talk page.
Beautiful, huh? :-]
In late November, I also tried myself as an admin. But I noticed a wee bit too late I had about 200 edits. Whoops! I got a ton of moral support which was very thoughtful, but there was quite an amount of opposition (What did you expect...), particulary about Wikipedia:NOTNOW. That is understandable. Over the course of the next couple of months, I plan to try again. I now vote in several requests for adminship, even creating my own criteria to !vote. I am a very slow editor, so it may be a while until I run again, but that's ok.
Again, if you want to see more about me, feel free to check out my Userbox page. I have some more information about me there.
Thank you. I'll add some cool new stuff here when it happens to me.
