DARWAYSH THE PHOTOGRAPHER--Darwaysh (talk) 11:01, 30 August 2011 (UTC) Early life was born in Abbottabad in the northern part of Pakistan. Abbottabad was a small clean and beautiful town surrounded by the scenic hills mostly covered by coniferous forests. The natural environment and awe inspiring scenic surroundings often attracted not only tourists but many of the affluent people from downtown and cities to come and spend the summers over here. His father an Army officer owned a small house at the most beautiful locality of the town. Aesthetics thus was a norm with the family which he came in contact at a very early age. Later he would spare time to wander around and enjoyed natural beauty of the suburbs. In his teens he shared the aesthetic traits and love for the creative art with three of his sisters who took painting as a hobby. His mother a college teacher was a meticulous and a perfectionist lady, who groomed her children with utmost care and love. Later the family moved to other provinces and cities because of the frequent postings of his father. Along with other siblings he thus got an opportunity to attend the best possible schools and colleges available in cities like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. Darwaysh by nature was not cut for the study of science subjects and he preferred to get a graduation degree in Arts from the University of Peshawar. Later he developed fascination for computer education. After having obtained a MS in computer studies, he went to U.K for further education. He obtained his Masters degree in Computing in Electronic Engineering from the University Of Hertfordshire. After completion of his studies he moved to Canada, but his liking for London brought him back to U.K. Instead of making use of his formal education to which he called a useless activity he started earning his living by starting a small business; but he was hardly satisfied with the way of his life. He always thought of doing something else which should provide satisfaction to his inner self. Career Since his childhood he was different by nature from other children. He never concentrated on his studies yet he always managed good grades in school. He started spending more time in pursuits of his hobbies. Like his sisters who used their spare timings for painting, he was more inclined initially to the practice of calligraphy. Surprisingly without any help from school or else where he made reasonably good progress. Forced by his volatile nature he later abandoned it and resorted to sculpture. He started making sculptures using different materials. His work was always appreciated at school and in peer group. His prize winning sculpture, “The Bust of Avicenna” made of asbestos was highly appreciated. After completing his studies at school he went to college. Contrary to his parents desire to become a doctor he preferred to study the Arts subjects. It was during these years that he started visiting the beautiful surroundings of his home town. His craze for hiking and trekking gradually increased. The natural beauty of the landscape and the serenity of the forest with the trickling water, the diversity of natural flora and fauna of the local environment fascinated him. It was at this stage that he started capturing the images of landscape, flowering plants and animals with his Yashica Mat box camera. His initial photos were mainly black and white. Gradually he became well versed in the use of shutter speed, aperture control and other camera techniques by hit and trial. As his enthusiasm grew he started with color photography. Later his hiking activity was considerably decreased as he fell in love with computers. His photographic activity almost stopped for some years. It was during his stay in U.K where he got bored with the work and lifestyle, when he decided to continue with his old hobby. He always thought, it was not what he wanted in life. He became an insomniac. Although he started his photographic activity at an early stage of his life his real quest for photography started with a Pentax SLR camera, while on frequent camping trips to Scotland and Lake District. His passion for photography enhanced with the passage of time and he sought admission for professional photographic education at the University of Arts London. After his diploma in photography which helped in perfecting his photographic techniques, his photographic activities consumed much of his time. His passion in Art photography remains insatiable. When asked as to why he got involved in photography at this stage of life, he said there is something strange over here in UK, may be it is the outlook of people or the prevailing environment that encourages you to discover your potentials. Edwards Saeed, came to UK for something else, but learnt something different to earn a name. In his book of photography published on June 2011, it is written “For four years he did not sleep. Constantly pondering over the question – ‘what is the aim of my life’? His inner self nurturing to become a photographer of distinction, was being evaded by his conscious self, till his passion exploded like a volcano, smashing all the barriers both conscious and unconscious. Thus embarked upon his journey towards self actualization he started capturing the beauty of butterflies on the Buddleia bushes as well as the wilderness around with his Pentax DSLR camera. To the utter disbelief of some of the best hands in the profession, his photos were regarded as marvelous without much of formal photographic education. His talent had found an expression to interpret “truth”, “beauty” and “wisdom” of nature. His instant plunge into the aesthetics to explore the beauty of nature got tinged by mysticism and he called himself – Darwaysh the Photographer. The talent of “Darwaysh” is much diversified may it be portrait photography or making pictures of objects of Architecture. He is also fascinated by the natural beauty of landscape. His photos are indicative of his quest for excellence. Success in any field demands motivation, hard work, and will to improve one’s skills and Darwaysh indeed is bestowed with all the qualities which promise success in his chosen profession.” www.darwaysh.com
