It provides an immense amount of information on the nature of the Victorian Era and how ideas such as the growth of materialism and the corruption of bureaucracy influenced the novel. It is clear that the author of this text is knowledgeable on Trollope’s work as he has written a separate novel on Trollope, ‘The Art of Anthony Trollope’. Furthermore, this text was published by the University of Texas Press and is considered part of the Texas Studies in Literature and Language Journal, thus being an academic and reliable source.
