I am a graphic designer who works at the University of Pennsylvania; I live, work and play in the beautiful city of Philadelphia. I was born in Texas in 1976, raised in Northern Arizona, and also did a few years' worth of time in Cleveland before I moved here in 2001.
I am a Penn graduate as well as a staffer (BA, Religious Studies, CGS'06). Thank you, tuition benefits! I plan to start an MA in spring '08; my focus will probably be gender/sexuality and religion.
My genome is German, Norwegian, Ojibwa, Celtic (Irish, Scottish, and Welsh) and Random European Grab-Bag: I am a mutt. In the past, I focused on learning more about my European roots, but lately I have been studying more about the Ojibwa branch of my family now that I have access to more information thanks to the internet and a fantastic university library. My mother and grandmother are enrolled members of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians but I'm one generation too far removed to enroll under current Tribal law. That hasn't stopped me from studying the language and traditions, however. I'm afraid I know more about Indian stuff than any of the enrolled members of the family.
I'm a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and act as a local officer. I'm a language geek and a religion geek and a just-about-everything-else geek; I'm a calligrapher/illuminator (see my portfolio) as well.
