From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm Scottish, of Irish descent. My mum and dad are from County Donegal, Republic of Ireland.
Wikipedia has some notes on my name: Camillus
Date of birth: 6th March 1963.

I was born in Govan, brought up in Clydebank, and have lived in Glasgow since I was 19.

I have a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from University of Strathclyde.

I worked as a college lecturer for 11 years, teaching computing.

I then worked for two years in Guyana as a teacher trainer and resource developer, under the auspices of Voluntary Service Overseas.

Since then I have worked as a computer software writer.

I started by adding minor edits of articles on Celtic F.C., and ex-player Henrik Larrson, Rangers F.C., and ex-Ranger's player Ally McCoist.

Then on some political issues: Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, Lenin's Testament, Nikita Khrushchev, Enver Hoxha, Bill Bland, Harpal Brar, Karl Kautsky, John Maclean MA, Social fascism.

I started articles for Andrei Bubnov, Ivar Smilga, Georgy Pyatakov and Nikolai Muralov, and footballers Sean Fallon, Bobby Lennox, Bertie Auld, Sandy McMahon, and Jimmy McMenemy.

I started the article on Irish-Scots.

This page comfortably survived a vote for deletion.

Also started National Unemployed Workers' Movement, Wal Hannington, and stubs for African-American athletes Cornelius Cooper Johnson, Dave Albritton (just because I saw they were red-links in the Jesse Owens article!).

Created a stub (just to remove a red-link) for Ramelton, a town in County Donegal.

Created some small articles to do with Guyana: Wai-Wai (people), Wapishana, Umana Yana, Bishops' High School, Guyana, Potaro River, Non-Aligned Foreign Ministers Conference, authors Fred D'Aguiar, Roy Heath, Wilson Harris, Pauline Melville, David Dabydeen.
Created articles for 14 Van Morrison, one Only Ones, three Linton Kwesi Johnson albums.
I'm responsible for 43 of the 6,928,440 articles on Wikipedia!

I seem to spend more and more time reverting vandalism to articles, as my watchlist grows!

I think Wikipedia is fab! It's democracy in action, it's a great community, it's great to see your contributions on screen, and it's good fun!

I've been contributing to Wikipedia since 11th November 2005. I changed my name for privacy reasons on Jan 13, 2006, So My Edit Count only shows edits since then.

Common starling
The common starling (Sturnus vulgaris) is a medium-sized perching bird in the starling family, Sturnidae. It is about 20 centimetres (8 inches) long and has glossy black plumage, which is speckled with white at some times of year. The legs are pink and the bill is black in winter and yellow in summer; young birds have browner plumage than the adults. It is a noisy bird, especially in communal roosts, with an unmusical but varied song. The starling has about a dozen subspecies breeding in open habitats across its native range in temperate Europe and western Asia, and it has been introduced elsewhere. This bird is resident in southern and western Europe and southwestern Asia, while northeastern populations migrate south and west in winter. The starling builds an untidy nest in a natural or artificial cavity in which four or five glossy, pale blue eggs are laid. These take two weeks to hatch and the young remain in the nest for another three weeks. The species is omnivorous, taking a wide range of invertebrates, as well as seeds and fruit. The starling's gift for mimicry has been noted in literature including the medieval Welsh Mabinogion and the works of Pliny the Elder and William Shakespeare. This common starling was photographed at Bodega Head on the northern coast of the U.S. state of California.Photograph credit: Frank Schulenburg
