Content

[edit]

"Unconditional" tells the story of a young man who comes home from a bar with "liquor on his breath." After an argument, he leaves by saying "I hate you" when his father explains. The song is about a parent's unconditional love for their child. The singer says that no matter what the child does or says, their love will always be there. In the second verse, the young man is reflecting on a woman leaving him a year earlier. He realizes that his father was right when he said in the first verse that his love for her is unconditional.
