Position

[edit]

What is intended to go in the fields for 'position'? It's not exactly clear. Is support for prohibition left-wing (because it was supported by the Social Democrats) or right-wing (because it's socially conservative)? And since when did support for (say) civil liberties denote either right OR left? It's far too much of a minefield without reliable sources to explicit reference, but they are unlikely to be forthcoming. Whereas reliable sources will often attribute the term 'left-wing' or 'right-wing' to entire parties, it will be far more difficult to find a source saying 'right-wing on the economy, but centre-left social policy'. I don't know if many people read this page, you will probably have more luck posting your question at Template talk:Infobox political party, or even better, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Political parties. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 17:09, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I imaged when I redesigned the template that it would be used to denote the position on the left-right political spectrum. It can be omitted though if it's not suitable because the Ideology field goes into the specifics. Stefán Örvarr Sigmundsson (talk) 21:42, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abbreviation

[edit]

Please add an "abbreviation" section to the infobox. The standard (and I'm guessing most) political party infoboxes have them. Plus they are extremely useful for a reader to find the party's official abbreviation. Thanks! ZlatanSweden10 (talk) 22:02, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
