State Assembly elections - By Year or By state or Both

[edit]

I think that the listing of State assembly elections categorized by state makes more sense. More often than not, you wont remember the year a particular state went to polls. If somebody else feels that a 'by year' categorization is also useful, go ahead and add it - But please retain the by state categorization. --Natrajdr 10:54, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ECI logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:ECI logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger proposal

[edit]

I dont see any reason why we should have two templates for the elections. After all, they all are conducted by the ECI and are governed by a similar set of rules. Unlike other countries, we don't that that many elections that it is much to fit into a single template. Your views??? --Natrajdr (talk) 05:09, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree - the two should be kept separate - I don't really see the need for this one to be honest. пﮟოьεԻ 57 07:27, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The template for India elections should be deleted. Please delete it, I have already merged that information to this template. It lists all election in India.--Harish89 (talk) 22:38, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Er, that's not how things work- you don't get to decide unilaterally. пﮟოьεԻ 57 23:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at both the templates you'd notice that one is a 100% subset of the other. My proposal is to delete the smaller one while retaining the broader template for all articles. Can you explain your rationale in opposing this deletion? -Natrajdr (talk) 12:04, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The rationale is that {{Indian elections}} is part of a set of 200+ election templates with the same content/layout, and I don't see why there should be an exception here. This one could be reformed into a presidential election template (along the lines of {{Pakistani presidential elections}} or {{Israeli presidential elections}}) to maintain consistency. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:27, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I dont mind having a vote on this. I think its better to have them as one template. I am not trying to decide unilaterally, but I haven't seen anyone take initiative to resolve having two different templates--Harish89 (talk) 20:31, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Either the national elections could be included in this template or the this template could be solely assigned for vidhan sabha elections and the presidential elections could be spun off into another template. This template can get pretty long with all the states and union territories. An over arching template of the types of elections in india could then be created.Abhishekmathur (talk) 04:13, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Splitting them into separate templates for general, presidential and state elections sounds like a good idea. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:09, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
