Colour scheme

[edit]

I have changed the colour scheme to colours that I feel represent Goa:

  • Cream and brown: Represent the sand and soil of Goa
  • Blue: The sea and the sky
  • Green: Our fields, forests, hills and open spaces

I really think conventional colours are best,...although I appreciate your creativity. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:09, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anna.. I had increased the size of the title because Goa is a small name, and to me, it wasn't really looking like a title. Secondly, it's a little difficult to make out that the word 'Goa' is a wikilink when it's that small. Do you mind if I make it big once more? For sure, increasing the size of the title is allowed!
Regarding the colour scheme, let's see what other users have to say.. you must've noticed that I just rolled it out on important Goa pages today. The Discoverer (talk) 15:45, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Discoverer. Well, it is the first time I've seen such a title enlarged. Is it really allowed? Where does it say so? I'd prefer to see what a few others say about that.
Colour scheme: Also, let's see what others say. Sorry to be a pain over small potatoes, but we normally need a pretty good reason to break away from convention. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:34, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anna,
Title size: created a new section to discuss this. Please pardon and correct me if I break any talk pages etiquette while doing this; I'm not too well versed with those rules and I find them confusing.
Colours: Don't worry.. I appreciate your feedback. Regards, The Discoverer (talk) 09:55, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had seen these earlier: Example 1, Example 2 and Example 3, but I now realise it's usually done only for Navboxes with collapsible groups. I went through the MOS but theres nothing specific as to whether it's allowed or not. I think that 'there must be a good reason' applies to increasing the font size. I looked at the examples. Boy, I'd really like to change Template:University of Virginia, but a zillion students would fight with me. (Looks like all universities get their own navbox colours, but the odd font on Virginia is something others don't have).
How about we compromise and keep the size small, but the zany colours how they are. I can't find guidelines of the size issue, but I suspect that consensus would go for keeping it the same as the others. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

colouring

[edit]

I would like to discuss the colouring again. looking at the templates in Category:India state and territory templates, it seems very few of them use a scheme which deviates from the default. for consistency, I think we should just use the default colour scheme per Anna Frodesiak above. this is also in line with wp:deviations and Help:Link color. of course, I am willing to change my mind if there is a compelling reason to use something non-standard here, but I just don't see a good reason at the moment. thank you.
