WikiProject COVID-19

[edit]

I've created WikiProject COVID-19 as a temporary or permanent WikiProject and invite editors to use this space for discussing ways to improve coverage of the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. Please bring your ideas to the project/talk page. Stay safe, --Another Believer (Talk) 18:19, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Data: namespace

[edit]

I copied this data to the Data namespace on Commons to make it easier to use for other languages. --EProdromou (WMF) (talk) 12:06, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also created a Scribunto module to import it here: Module:Covid19Data, and example usage here: User:EProdromou (WMF)/test. --EProdromou (WMF) (talk) 12:09, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove retrieval date from source

[edit]

I removed the date "Retrieved March 15, 2020" from the source, given that this is stale dated. It is arguable that this should merely be updated regularly, but given that it is easy to forget to update this, I've simply deleted it. If you disagree, by all means revert and update. Deaths

[edit]

Most other charts of this kind for other countries states the numbers of deaths and daily increase. The information is already present in the graphical form. Is there any reason why the actual numbers are not shown? Graemec2 (talk) 21:18, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Partial data

[edit]

@Krazytea: The last row visually looks like all others, a viewer can't tell from it that this partial data. Even now, though complete data is known the data has not been updated. One of the reasons for this is that people see that some data is already in place and don't bother to check and update it. If the line was empty chances to get it updated would be higher. So, I propose either not to add partial data or to mark them as such. --Igor Yalovecky (talk) 00:37, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with not adding partial data, especially since it leads to editing errors and update omissions, as you suggest. However, it would be clearer if the chart said that only complete days are shown, or something like "numbers as of the end of each day", so that it is not a point of further debate. Is the source reliable?

[edit]

The numbers shown by the source (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-coronavirus-cases-canada-world-map-explainer/) seem weirdly off for April 30. They are suspiciously high. Is the source reliable for this date? Who updated April 30 with numbers not found in the source, and from where were those numbers obtained? Waiting to hear your thoughts before I go ahead and put the numbers from the source into the table. JoeSchlabotnik (talk) 20:50, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I see that the Globe and Mail fixed their numbers. JoeSchlabotnik (talk) 23:58, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
