This template helps to generate a CURRENT SEASON string using parserfunctions. These are date-dependent and change from <last year>–<this year> (i.e. 2008–09) to <this year>-<next year> (ie. 2009–10) on August 1 automatically. This code does NOT work for a current year less than 9, since {{#expr:{{#time: y}}+1}} will expand to "9" if current year is 8, NOT "09" which is the intent. The only fix that I can think of for this is #sub: from mw:Extension:StringFunctions which is not running on any Wikipedia as of the creation of this template in 2009.
