Pancharanga Kshetrams

[edit]

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple - Island of Srirangapatnam - near Mysore with the chariot gifted by Hydel Ali in the front yard

Created/expanded by Sidsahu (talk), Nvvchar (talk), Redtigerxyz (talk). Nominated by Nvvchar (talk) at 09:44, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

  • New enough (423 char to 11,000+ char). Long enough. QPQ done. Within policy and well-cited. Image is not fair use, so is good to go. Hook has some problems though. 1. It is too long (206 char), needs to be cut down. 2. The statement is not supported in source material. The source says that Tipu Sultan, son of Hyder Ali, was the devotee of "the deity" (which should also be specified as Sri Ranganatha, rather than left vague) but it does not specify Hyder Ali's religious affiliation. The Hook and text in the article say that Hyder Ali was the devotee to Sri Ranganatha, but this isn't what is in the source. So, content and hook length both need to be fixed for this to proceed. Thanks. AbstractIllusions (talk) 15:35, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that the Tiger of Mysore did not have his meal until he heard the bell of this temple (pictured)? --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:09, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT1 Hook is supported in article and in sources and is short enough. Other content problem was fixed in article. So ALT1 can work. Thanks. AbstractIllusions (talk) 21:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
  • This hook cannot work unless the picture is included, and there's no guarantee that it will be. Without the picture, it is unclear which of the temples is meant. An ALT hook is needed that works with and without a picture. (Perhaps a regular link for the actual temple to its own article, and also say that it's one of the [bold link] Pancharanga Kshetrams?) ALT2: ... that the Tiger of Mysore did not have his meal until he heard the bell of the Srirangapatna Ranganatha temple, one of the Pancharanga Kshetrams? for without img --Redtigerxyz Talk 07:17, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT2 (with an added "the" for grammar) works with or without an image, which is what was needed. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:32, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
