  • Comment: This is my first attempt at DYK, and I haven't reviewed any others just yet, but will soon after I get a handle on this process.

Hi, new nominator, thank you for coming here. You try to teach us Spanish, which is a good idea, but for DYK we need one catchy statement, - the above is way too long, both in characters as in reader's attention span. We don't want to say everything here, rather create a bit of a mystery which makes a reader click for more. I will read the article again and build an example from which you can derive alternatives. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:40, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I see. Is this still a good hook though? RO(talk) 19:46, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
I trimmed it down. Is it better now? RO(talk) 19:48, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) my choice:
Cliff Palace
Cliff Palace
ALT1: ... that Cliff Palace (pictured) is the largest cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde National Park, a World Heritage Site in Colorado?
One unwritten rule: don't trim a hook, better make an alternative (next: ALT2:), otherwise the discussion makes no sense. Next time ;) - Always use (pictured) in that standard format if you have an image, I added it above. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:52, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Okay. Sorry about that. How do I add your hook to the above? RO(talk) 19:56, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
No need for "sorry", we are all learning. What do you mean: add? It's added, and you can add more. Look at other nominations on the nominations page. One hook may be struck after discussion, or several be approved, leaving the decision to the one who builds the set. - Next step is waiting for a reviewer. Good luck, and I will watch, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:01, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
  • This newly promoted GA is long enough and nominated in the correct time frame. The hook has an inline citation to a reliable source and the article is neutral. Most of the sources are offline so I could not really assess whether there are any copyright issues. The Cliff Palace image is properly licensed and would be good to use.
