USA House

[edit]

Created by LavaBaron (talk). Self-nominated at 07:42, 21 January 2016 (UTC).

  • New and long enough, QPQ review performed, checks for copyvio reveals no problems (e.g. [1]), all non-lead ¶ have inline citations, hook content is essentially backed with citations to reliable sources in the article. The only minor issue is that I cannot find any sources that specifically refer to this program as "Houses for Britain" or "USA House". This source uses the term only in its byline, this source is titled "Temporary Housing Programme", this source does not appear to use the term, This source appears to only use the term in its byline, and additional searches are not providing usage of the term. A way to remedy this is to find and add a source/sources that use the term, or to change the title and copy edit the article accordingly. I have added the (properly licensed) image to this nomination at top-right. North America1000 06:45, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, North America, I didn't do a good job of direct-linking the Kwak book. Here's a direct link referring to the "USA House program." [2]. The Vale book references "Houses for Britain" but that's, unfortunately, not online. LavaBaron (talk) 06:55, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
@LavaBaron: Please add a citation for this source at the end of a sentence in the article that states content of the hook. North America1000 09:48, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
North America - I just moved the whole page to USA House. LavaBaron (talk) 09:19, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in, but maybe a hint about the time period would be useful in the hook? For example, adding "in the 1940s" at the end? HaEr48 (talk) 00:53, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Apology accepted, but I think that would dull the hook and one of the criteria of the DYK is the sexiness of the hook. Right now people will read it and be like "WHAT? How interesting! I'm gonna click on that!" but if we said "1940s" then people be like "oh yeah, WW2 - ZZZZZZZ." In order to pass a DYK, the steak needs to have sizzle. This ain't a salad bar. • Good to go for ALT1. The term "USA House" is verified in the article. Struck the initial hook; after the page move and copy edits, the term "Houses for Britain" is not in the article. North America1000 16:34, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
