Gott ist mein König, BWV 71

  • Reviewed: Close case
  • Comment: the image is rare, - I guess it's not well known that only two of Bach's church cantatas were printed during his lifetime, and one of those is lost (also interesting how small his name is on the title)

Improved to Good Article status by Gerda Arendt (talk) and Thoughtfortheday (talk). Nominated by Gerda Arendt (talk) at 21:20, 11 April 2016 (UTC).

  • The only other one of what? is lost? EEng 18:19, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
Wait, do you mean ALT1: ... of the two Bach church cantatas printed in his lifetime, only Gott ist mein König, BWV 71, is extant?
No, because I want "my subject" at the beginning, - rather drop the clause about the other one ;) - perhaps like this:
ALT2: ... that Gott ist mein König, BWV 71, is one of the only two church cantatas by Bach printed during his lifetime (title page pictured)? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:55, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
The existence of a second church cantata printed during his lifetime seems in doubt. Perhaps ALT3 would be safer? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:27, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
  • I tweaked it, twice, fine with me, why not, doesn't matter too much how many were lost, - readers will get that not many were printed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:06, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
  • Nominated for DYK same day as receipt of GA icon. New enough, long enough, neutrally (and nicely) written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. ALT3 hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. Image is public domain. ALT3 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 22:42, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
