George Washington (Houdon)
[edit]- ... that when asked to sculpt George Washington from life (Pictured), Jean-Antoine Houdon demanded a life insurance policy for his trip to the United States?
5x expanded by Morgan Riley (talk), Carptrash (talk). Nominated by Morgan Riley (talk) at 07:18, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Length and history verified; apparently offline ref accepted in good faith. Daniel Case (talk) 21:30, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Bare refs are not allowed for DYK, and there are at least seven that need to be upgraded. Also, the "citation needed" should be supplied. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:06, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Upgraded: The bare references have been replaced with full citations. The "citation needed" sentence has been removed for want of evidence; it was from pre-existing material (not the stuff we added) and did not show up in our general research; further, after a search of the museum's online catalogue, while revealing at least a dozen works by the artists, it does not show or mention this one. Morgan Riley (talk) 17:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Restoring approval AGF now that bare refs have been fixed, and unsupported material removed. I apologize for the delay in doing so. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:00, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
