Bill Brown (Oregon rancher)

[edit]
  • ... that Oregon rancher Bill Brown was known as the “Horse King of the West” yet he often wrote checks on newspaper margins and soup can labels?

Source: On p. 256 of Ralph Friedman’s book, Tracking Down Oregon, it says Bill Brown "was known as the Horse King of the West." In a Statesman Journal obituary dated 12 January 1941, it says: Brown "wrote checks on chips, wrapping paper, and tomato can labels." This fact is found in a number of sources, each citing different unusual types of paper … butcher paper, newspaper margins, soup can labels, etc.

  • This substantial article about a fascinating character is new enough and long enough. I have changed the examples in the hook to use some mentioned in the article. The hook facts are sourced inline, the article is neutral and I detected no policy issues. Cwmhiraeth 06:12, 05 June 2018 (UTC)
