Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Zen Narratives. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

what is a narrative

[edit]

Hi, I am a little confused about the term narrative. This seems to be used as some historical or maybe sociological term here, but the article on narrative: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Narrative lists about 10 different definitions. But the artcle doesn't help, when it just says: "Modern scientific research on the history of Zen discerns three main narratives concerning Zen,..." If you ctrl+f for 'history' here (because of 'historical'), multiple definitions get hit. I think, this could need a bit more context (like a link pointing to what exactly 'narrative' means here). Narrative confusion

[edit]

I got an edit to the narratives section in the main Zen article removed because it was thought to give undue weight. I am confused as to what a narrative means in the context of that article and this one like the above poster. I'd like to discuss it.

Narrative in this context means a view on the origins and nature of the Zen-tradition, structured like a story. So, the section is not about any random storg related to Zen Buddhism, but on three specofic views on Zen and it's history. Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 19:11, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
