RELIABLE REFERENCES TO Population Exchange Agreement in 02.08.1975 between Turkish and Greek Cypriots TO HELP REMOVE THE POW EXPRESSIONS

[edit]
  • CYPNET (United Kingdom): In the aftermath of the events of 1974 and subsequent Population Exchange Agreement, most of the Greek-Cypriot residents in North Cyprus moved to South Cyprus whereas most of the Turkish-Cypriot residents in the South moved to North Cyprus. However, a small minority of Greek-Cypriots chose to stay in their ancestral homes, mostly those in the villages of the remote Karpas peninsula. Their number ranges between 700-800[1].
  • BBC (United Kingdom): In the end, Makarios and Denktash signed a population exchange agreement and the exchange happened. [2]
  • Embargoed: 2.The Population Exchange Agreement of 1975 between the two Cypriot sides reflected the voluntary movement of most of the island's population during the 1963-74 conflict, who, in the interests of personal safety, preferred to live in homogeneous ethnic zones[3].
  • MacMillian: Table of Contents: Population Exchange Agreement (August 2, 1975) [4]
  • United Nations: United Nations Document S/11789. [5]

Why indeed did they need and Population Exchange "Agreement" if it stipulated that each side could remain put? The Turksih invasion was the catalyst for the flight of Greek Cypriots from the north. Chesdovi (talk) 13:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Some Greek Cypriots in North Cyprus wanted to stay under Greek Administration in North Cyprus even after the 1974 war. Some Other Greek Cypriots (Rizakarpaso Greek Cypriots) in North Cyprus did not care who administers them. Some Turkish Cypriots in (South) Cyprus wanted to stay under Turkish Administration in (South) Cyprus even after the 1974 war. Some Other Turkish Cypriots in (South) Cyprus did not care who administers them. As a result, BOTH Turks and Greeks did NOT accept citizens from the other race rejecting to live under the administration of the other ethnic group.
  • Hence, in North Cyprus, Greek Cypriots in Rizakarpaso of North Cyprus accepted Turkish Cypriot administration and STAYED in NORTH CYPRUS! In (South) Cyprus, Some very few Turkish Cypriots (like Dr. Ihsan Ali etc.) of (South) Cyprus accepted Greek Cypriot administration and STAYED in (SOUTH) CYPRUS!Dox1donny (talk) 14:17, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And besides for these few brave hundred, the other tens of thousands were forced to flee the new reality on the ground. Chesdovi (talk) 14:32, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yialousa IS DE-FACTO IN NC, NOT DE-JURE.

[edit]

That Turkish law functions in the territory does not dispell the notion that it remains occupied. NC presence is factual in nature, not legally recongnised. Life must go on, so those involved have to deal with the de-facto laws and authority. Chesdovi (talk) 15:47, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for starting a discussion Chesdovi, but can you and the other user involved in the edit war stop reverting and discuss here, any more edit warring on this topic and all parties will be sanctioned, I understand your view but you shouldn't have contintued reverting Donny he is already over 3RR now.--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 17:48, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
