Guardian of the Republic
[edit]@Applodion, NuclearWizard, Dvbdfxgn, and Chilicheese22: per source I think the article should be moved because NR is composed by three groups. --Panam2014 (talk) 01:28, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
No, they are not the same group. The UAE official news agency(UAE founded these groups), and Yemen's websites, and other news outlets, refer to the groups as diferent entities. Examples are numerus, this is one that is not from UAE's official news agency. [1] Also, there was never officialy grouped as one group. If you search well, you may find references that they may call the three groups "Joint resistance forces", but this is not an actual group, but rather a name news outlets use to summarily call these three groups. As for the giants brigades, they are made up from southern movement fighters and commanders. They are essentialy the southern Movement in the west coast front. check this out[2] Firstly, the three groups have diferent commanders, and flags and emblems. Just put on google translate, and search the sources of yemen's newspapers, who are more valid than english language ones, cause the actual war is happening in Yemen, and the battle is getting coverage hour by hour detailing millitary operations, and always referign the three groups as different, and their relations only as cooperative, not witha single command structure.

@Dvbdfxgn: I diagree with your last edit. Also, the source is reliable and the first comes from May not June. For Giants brigade, they are members of National army, not southern movement. There are no reason to remove sources, we should have all of the POV. --Panam2014 (talk) 02:58, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Here one from june [3] Here, a reference from June, when Southern Movement stressed that Tariq Saleh betrayed their group, Giants brigades, in which his actions resulted to some of the brigades leaders deaths. So, from this whe see fractions between the coalition, and a leader of one of Giants brigade, said that indeed saleh was just using the southerners, and he did not involve his forces in actual heavy battles. Check it out yourself. Thus, the Giants are Southern Movement. The [4] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dvbdfxgn (talk • contribs) 03:40, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Here, another one, even the STC leader, Aidarus al-Zubaidi visited the front to supervise the situation after being informed by the Giants commanders, who are obviusly loyal to him, about the Tareq's wrongdoings.[5]
Dvbdfxgn (talk) 07:52 24 June 2018
@Dvbdfxgn: It is not the problem. We wrote that it is only the opinion of one newspaper. But for Giants brigade, there are a problem because it was a part of Yemeni army. What is the reason of change ? --Panam2014 (talk) 03:55, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Flag [6][7][8]. About the Giants, they are of Southern movement, as the Hizam and Shabwani elite are, cause they raise the South Yemen flag. They may say that they are loyal to Hadi, but we saw what hapened in Aden 5 months ago. The Yemeni army is divided. Many Generals are loyal to Aidarus al-Zubaidi, many to Houthi and Many to Hadi. Even Aidaros is still officialy a general of the Army(i am not sure if he is still, but when he was officially southern movement leader, he was also general and governor of aden). So, if you try to see Yemenite warlords commanders allegiance to Hadi by seeing if they are part of the army, then most of Houthis commanders are loyals to Hadi, since they are still wearing their millitary uniforms, and they are still refers to themself as Brigadiers and major generals. In Yemen, being part of the army does mean nothing into which you are loyal too. I think this is proven, since this os the reason of the war, some generals were loyal to the South, some were to Saleh, and some were to Houthis, Saleh and Houths allied, and they took over Sanaa. @Dvbdfxgn:it was part of regular army We should have an article --Panam2014 (talk) 04:29, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Dvbdfxgn:@Panam2014: I think we should keep the National Resistance article and not create an article for the Guardians of the Republic, as the Guardians are always mentioned as part of the National Resistance; they are the alliance's core and do not operate separatly. According to one reliable newspaper, the other two groups are also part of the National Resistance, but as Dvbdfxgn has said, they also serve as part of other movements and have distinct histories, so they should have their own articles. Despite this, their possible membership in the National Resistance should be mentioned, regardless of whether they still operate under Tareq Saleh. Dvbdfxgn has himself noted that alliances shift rapidly in Yemen, and it is important to note this to understand this conflict - thus a short-time affiliation of the Giants and the Tihamah Resistance with the National Resistance is still noteworthy, especially when it is reported by a reliable source. Applodion (talk) 11:08, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
I think you are right about the guardians, we currenty do not need to create an article, as the guardians are mainly the National resistance, but the current Giants are not the old ones. The current Giants were formed in 2015 if i remember correctly, when one of the Southern Movement leaders, backed by UAE money, named Abu Zaraa Al-Mahramy, recruited five southern resistance commanders and their troops to forms the giants, to be the southern fighting force in the west coast front. About the National, is not the most reliable source, since is accused of only showing news that will benefit the governments side. Dvbdfxgn (talk) 05:52 24 June 2018
Anothern one about the giants leader, Al-Mahrami. Xinhua, and other newspapers and arab news mentions him as the general commanders of the operation and not Tariq, so in my earlier point, about the southern group to not to be part of Saleh's army in proven. Also, the same paper mentions that the Giants group are souther resistance fihgters.[9][10] Dvbdfxgn (talk) 06:13 24 June 2018
- @Applodion, Panam2014, and Dvbdfxgn: Just to add one thing to this discussion, is that Al-Amalkeh (Giants) brigade, was the same brigade that was tasked to fight the Houthis by the Yemeni army back in 2014, in Dammaj and Suyfan (Northern Amran).[11] The Giants brigade right now may consist of some salafi southern fighters, but lets not forget the wars the Houthis launched against the Salafi's in 2014. Also as you can see from one of the Giants brigades car [1] their logo doesn't have the southern yemen flag it just states, god is the greatest, Al-Amalkeh brigade, and tasked with liberating the western coast. As for the rest of the discussion I completely agree with what was said, the guardians of the republic are the core of the national resistance, and a term that is used by Gulf and Yemeni media to represent the three entities or forces that are tasked with liberating Hodeidah City is Joint Resistance Forces. The General People's Congress Stated in December 2017 that Tariq had died
[edit]Interesting statement.[2] For all we know, a lot of fiction could surround the details of this group. The media even alleged they were fracturing.2601:447:4101:5780:6DEA:8B48:1769:6606 (talk) 18:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- You have one source stating he died in late 2017, but other sources mention him as leading the group much later. You can not just change parts of an article without enough proof from different reliable sources. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 18:59, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
