Formerly Wood Street?
[edit]I checked an historic map of the coordinates, and the village was marked on the map as 'Wood Street' (actually 'Wood Str.') rather than 'Wood Street Village'. Is this a former name of the village? If so, when was the name changed? If not, is this an alternative name? Coyets (talk) 07:45, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Reading H.E. Malden source, yes it was in about 1911, which was before it was a village. However it isn't in the church of England which is definitive for English village names based upon parish, which is understandably seen as the right way to consider non-urban settlements in England - the boundaries hardly change. And it provides more of a history for an area by being able to compare all the old sources such as ohn Speed's maps, Bartholomew, Malden, Norden etc.- Adam37 Talk 20:22, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
