[edit]According to the forum on Johnstone's web site there is a statement that he has passed away in 2005 or 2006. Anoyone know anything more on this? Official references? --claes 23:24, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
During correspondence with Johnstone in the late 1980s I was told by Johnstone that he had worked in some manner for the USA's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). No proof available other than that self-proclamation.68.13.60.210 (talk) 08:42, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Obbop performed an extensive Web search in June, 2006. Googled extensively until my curiosity was satisfied. I wish I would have saved the links but I did not. However, I found, in my opinion, ample proof that William W. Johnstone died. I found a couple obituaries in on-line newspapers and the official William W. Johnstone Web site forum has a posting by one of Johnstone's kinfolk that, yes, he did die. If memory is correct he is buried in Tennessee. You, too, can perform the same type of Web search to provide proof here. I do not have the time to do so. 209.50.1.96 19:56, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've serached but can't find any obituaries nor statements regarding his death. As you point out, there's a forum post on the Johnstone website indicating that he has passed away, although no dates are of his passing is provided. --claes 20:16, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Howdy folks. The Mighty Obbop here. Wiliam Johnstone was at least partially active on the UseNet newsgroup misc.survivalism. A Google search of the various newsgroups will provide more than what I am offering here. From: Thurs, Feb 19 2004 4:10 pm;

I found other postings in the past that included links that verified to me that William Johnstone is deceased. He will be missed.Obbop 01:05, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Here's the Social Security Death Index listing:[1]
- WILLIAM W JOHNSTONE 28 Oct 1938 08 Feb 2004 (V) 71118 (Shreveport, Caddo, LA) (none specified) 430-68-1621 Arkansas
- Quite a guy--not only still writing long after his death, but able to jump ahead to the future as well—he even has a January 2007 update on his web page, and it isn't 2007 anywhere in the world yet. Gene Nygaard 16:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not that it matters but, the information about Johnstone's death that I posted on the official Johnstone Web site was removed, as well as other posts by me and others regarding the issue. Soon, the old message board was removed in entirety.
Looking at the official Johnstone Web site it is obvious to me that at least a partial illusion has been created the Johnstone is still alive. It is likely a marketing tactic used to sell books written after Johnstone's death, written by ghost writers or, as I have seen with one book, with Johnstone and another writer listed as the authors.68.13.60.210 (talk) 08:40, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Johnstone's recent writings
[edit]According to the website http://www.williamjohnstone.net/ he died in 2004, and his newest books have been ghost written by J.A. Johnstone after an "extensive tryout" (last part according to an e-mail with the webmaster) Leobold1 (talk) 02:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Sourcing
[edit]A lot of sources for this person seem to be mainly affiliated sites or forums, none of which seem to be reliable under Wikipedia policy. Assuming that the person is notable this page will need a lot of work. Sakura CarteletTalk 05:02, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
If only someone had tried to bring that up. Oh wait they did and then lying admins called them "sockpuppet" because admins get off wanking to their power. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.7.0.179 (talk) 18:54, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
